- Who can form a New Zealand company?
Anybody can form a New Zealand company providing the director(s) and shareholder(s) are aged 18 or over and that the director is not an undischarged bankrupt. It is not necessary for the directors or shareholders to be resident in New Zealand (however there may be financial reporting requirements if 25% or more of the shareholding is held by an overseas resident).
- Can I form a company with just one person?
Yes, a company needs to have one director and one shareholder and the same person can fulfil both those roles.
- How much does it cost and what do I receive??

- Do I need to register for IRD or GST?
If you're going to start trading then your company will need to registered with Inland Revenue for a tax number. If it is expected that the company will earn more than $60k (total turnover) in it's first 12 months then you'll need register for GST too.
- Do I need to sign anything?
Yes, each director and shareholder will need to sign a consent form which we prepare for you. These signed consent forms must be returned by fax or email before the company can be officially registered.
- Do you provide a registered office address facility?

- Don't I need a solicitor or accountant to do this?
No you don't - we can handle the whole process from start to finish. In fact, we provide company formation services to many accountants & solicitors across New Zealand.
- How long will it take to complete the whole process?
It usually takes about 10 minutes to complete our simple application form. Once the application has been paid for you'll receive some documents for signing by email in about 1 hour (sometimes faster). Upon returning of these signed documents your company will be registered within 30 minutes (these timeframes are during business hours only).
- How do I change details once the company has been formed?
Changing the details of your company is free and can be done online directly with the government. When your company is registered we provide you with all the information you need going forward.

- What is an LAQC company?
A company with LAQC status can offset any losses against the personal income tax of its shareholders (rather than those losses staying in the company). LAQC companies are widely used in the purchase of investment properties to allow the losses incurred by the company to flow through to the shareholders tax returns.
- How can I form an LAQC company?
To elect your new company to become an LAQC company just tick the applicable box during our questionnaire. If this option is selected we'll include necessary LAQC forms & documentation with your company package.
- What are my obligations when I register a company?

- What's your refund policy?
Refunds are provided at the discretion of management. If you have paid for an application and we have not yet undertaken any action to register the company, then you may apply for a refund. However if we have either a) reserved your company name, b) issued consent forms or c) formed the company; then no refund will be available in this situation.
